BRUSHES:
“Royal” Aqualon flats #6, #8, ½”, ¾” and #1 Aqualon liner.  “Royal” Bobbie Campbell Blenders, sizes small, medium, and large.

DIRECTIONS:
To start:
1.  Seal the surface with DecoArt Wood Sealer, when dry sand lightly.  Base the floor of the tray with 2 coats of Sand.
2.  Apply the oval in the center.  Wash the oval with Cadmium Yellow.  If the first coat is too soft, dry completely and repeat this step.
3.  After drying, shade the top of the oval with Cadmium Orange.  Apply the basic design and basecoat as follows:
     
Lettering: White
     
Crock: Cool Neutral
     
Apples: Country Red
     
Leaves: Avocado
     
Upper Scrolls: Cadmium Orange
     
Lower Scrolls:  Country Red
     
Stars:  Cadmium Yellow
     
Comma Strokes: Avocado
     
Reeds:  Avocado + Cadmium Yellow (2/3-1/3)
     
Leaves:  Avocado
4.  
Apply any necessary interior design.

Lettering:
1.  L
ettering has detailing of Country Red.
2.  S
hading at the top of the letters is Cadmium Orange and at the bottom, a mix of Salem Blue + Desert Turquoise (1:1).

Apples:
1.  
Shade apples with Black Plum and highlight with Cadmium Orange.  A second, smaller highlight is Cadmium Orange + a touch of      Sand.
2.  Base stems with Burnt Umber and use small highlights of Burnt Umber + a touch of Sand.
3.  
Leaves are shaded with Avocado + a touch of Lamp Black and highlighted with Cadmium Yellow.  

Crock:
1.  
Crock detailing is the Desert Turquoise mix and then shaded with Charcoal Gray + Cool Neutral; add a second shading here and there       with Charcoal Gray.
2.  The highlight is Sand and then a small amount of Titanium White.
3.  After the crock has dried, add soft accents with Country Red.
4.  T
he trim Line around the oval is also Country Red.

Scrolls & Stars:
1.  
Upper scrolls are shaded and outlined with Country Red.
2.  Lower scrolls are shaded and outlined with Black Plum.
3.  T
he stars are shaded with Cadmium Orange

Comma Strokes, Leaves, Reeds:
1.  
Shade Comma Strokes with the Avocado + a touch of Lamp Black.
2.  The Reeds have a highlight of Cadmium Yellow and the leaves are divided down the center of each, with one side Avocado and the       other the Dark Green mix.
3.  T
he stem lines are Dark Green mixes.

Details:
1.  The trim line around the inside of the tray is Country Red.
2.  Liner work outline was added to the letters and the stars, either using a Micro pen with a small nib or thinned Lamp Black and a liner.
3.  T
he trim color chosen was Country Red with Black Plum for the handles and ball feet.  For the photography, I chose not to antique this      project; but to antique would really soften the look, as well as add an Old World charm

Finish:
When completed, varnish with DecoArt Satin 5-6 coats and when dry, again buff with #0000 steel wool to soften any shine
